Can Sustained Deficit Irrigation Save Water and Meet the Quality Characteristics of Mango?

نویسندگان

چکیده

Mango is one of the most cultivated tropical fruits worldwide and few drought-tolerant plants. Thus, in this study effect a sustained deficit irrigation (SDI) strategy on mango yield quality was assessed with aim reducing water crop. A randomized block design four treatments developed: (i) full (FI), assuring crop’s needs, three levels SDI receiving 75%, 50%, 33% (SDI75, SDI50, SDI33). Yield, morphology, color, titratable acidity (TA), total soluble solids (TSS), organic acids (OA), sugars, minerals, fiber, antioxidant activity (AA), phenolic content (TPC) were analyzed. The reduced conditions (8%, 11%, 20% for SDI75, SDI33, respectively), but productivity higher all regimes. significantly size, SDI33 generating smallest mangoes. Peel color changed after 13 days ripening, SDI75 being least ripe. TA, AA, citric acid while TPC fiber increased levels. Consequently, size functionality samples, without severe detrimental yield.

Effect of deficit irrigation on crop growth, yield and quality of onion in subsurface drip irrigation

Indiahas the largest area under onion (Allium cepa) crop but its average productivity (14.21 t ha-1) is considerably lower than the world’s average of 19.4 t ha-1. Besides low productivity, irrigation efficiencies are also very low i.e. 30-35% in India. Managing onion crop with less than adequate irrigation water availability is a challenge in several parts of the country. Options of i) deficit...

Second Year Recovery of Hedgerow Walnuts from Sustained Deficit Irrigation

Hedgerow walnuts (cv. Chico) that were irrigated at 33 and 66% ETc from 1986-88 suffered marketable nut yield reductions of 32 and 50%. Upon returning these trees to full irrigation in 1989, tree growth and.water relations immediately recovered but yields were little changed. Harvest yields completely recovered this year (after two years of full irrigation). This indicates that hedgerow walnuts...
